Macadamia Smoothie

Macadamia nuts are so underutilized. They have the highest fat content of all the tree nuts, so we want to be mindful about how many we eat; however, they also have the best Omega 3:6 ratio.

High in fiber, antioxidants, and manganese, it's a shame they are overlooked.


Now you have a good reason to get them into the mix. This smoothie also has a ton of protein and not a lot of sugar, so it makes for balanced and sustainable fuel all morning (or evening!).



MACADAMIA SMOOTHIE:


INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1 tablespoon almond butter

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 tablespoon hemp seeds (or a scoop of hemp protein)

4 macadamia nuts

1/2 small banana

1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin coconut oil

1/2 cup filtered water

fresh thyme or mint, to taste


INSTRUCTIONS:

Blend with water and enjoy :)

Add a few tablespoons of full fat canned coconut milk to make creamier if you like.




Toss a few extra blueberries on top :)
