Strength in the City

Updated: Sep 10, 2021

This year's Strength in the City Chicago took place Saturday, August 28 at the Lakefront Green. COVID restrictions in effect.

What do you get when you combine community, local fresh food, group fitness, mindfulness, and a beautiful lakefront venue?

Strength in the City - an annual health and fitness festival that brings local vendors, fitness studios, and musicians together for a day of delicious eats, energizing movement, live music, and even mindfulness & meditation. In addition to Chicago, Strength in the City's events takes place in other major cities such as San Diego, Miami, Pheonix, and Denver!

Think about your favorite group fitness class and it is probably to be found. We are talking barre, outdoor spinning, yoga flow, dance, HIIT, boxing, AND jump rope! Tickets are $40 for access to ANY class of your choosing.

Whether you are there for a soothing yoga flow and meditation or intense boot camp, there are plenty of vendors to explore. Complete with a farmer's market, free samples from some of Chicago's best restaurants, free massages, and refreshing beverages - pretty much health and wellness Disneyland (:

What we love most about Strength in the City is that they not only prioritize physical health but equality, youth development, and support a healthy environment. A portion of the proceeds is donated to disadvantaged youth organizations in Chicago. Local farmers and businesses using sustainable practices are directly supported with every purchase. Another plus - this event is plastic water bottle free with several refill stations and boxed water bottles for purchase.

While special events are a great way to explore the city and shop local, keep up with our Abundadelcious Blog as we continue to highlight local farmers, fitness studios, and the best Chicago eats!
