How to Cook Corn Tortillas (from scratch)

| gluten free | vegan | vegetarian | dairy free |

These tortillas are probably VERY non-traditional and inauthentic. They were good though, and easy!

I enjoyed mine with some chicken and vegetable soup. Hope you like them!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Masa Harina (I used Bob's Red Mill)

  • 1.5 cups water

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve the salt in the water, and slowly add the Masa Harina.

  2. Cover the dough, and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.

  3. After dough has rested, knead it into a smooth ball.

  4. Divide into about 4 sections.

  5. Take each section, and roll out in between two halves of a plastic bag (tear along the sides, so it easily opens and closes).

  6. Roll out with a rolling pin until about 1/8 inch thick, and cut out circles.

  7. Gently peel the circles from the plastic, and place into a dry, hot, skillet for 45-60 seconds, flip and cook again for 45-60 seconds.

  8. Eat as soon as possible - that won't be a problem ;)
